Bronze Sculptures - A Mark of the Modern Era
Sculptures?
Since ancient times, sculpture has been a medium for human expression. The sculpture is a man-made art form that is based upon creating three-dimensional representations of natural or imagined forms. Durable sculptural processes originally used carving and modeling, in stone, metal, ceramics, wood and other materials but, since Modernism, there has been almost complete freedom of materials and process.
Bronze Sculptures
A bronze sculpture, often simply called 'a a bronze', is a three-dimensional piece of art made by pouring molten bronze into a mold, before leaving it to solidify. The bronze sculpture is made via a process known as casting: pouring molten metal into a mold and leaving it to solidify.
For artists and sculptors, bronze represents an excellent medium for producing sculpture. While marble can be difficult to work with, and easy to break and damage, bronze is a hard and ductile metal.
Bronze is also preferable to other metals because, in the casting process, it is possible to achieve both detail and consistency.

How To Clean Bronze Statues
People often ask if their bronze sculpture requires any special care. Many people do not know how to polish bronze statues and how to remove oxidation from bronze properly. The process can be done with household agents.
If your sculpture is installed outside, we recommend using a neutral shoe wax like Kiwi Neutral Shoe Polish (in the tin) to clean the surface. Apply the polish on a sunny day when the sculpture will be warmed by the sun. Rub into the surface with a soft, dry cloth, allowing it to stay for the day until the sun goes down and the sculpture cools. The heat of the sculpture will help the wax melt into the pores of the bronze. Once cool, gently buff away any excess with a soft, dry cloth. Kiwi shoe polish is available almost everywhere.
